B+ from Simply Romance Reviews!

I enjoyed Two on the Hunt. It is a good tale of romantic suspense, heavy on the suspense part. But the sparks are definitely there between Georgia and Yun to give you a healthy dose of tension and just a bit of lovin’. I liked the secondary characters and how involved Georgia’s family stayed to help through thick and thin, and I really loved Yun’s mom. Two on the Hunt proves that you can go home again and that second chances though difficult to achieve are worth all the effort.

Two on the Hunt is a sequel to One Juror Down. I would recommend reading One Juror Down first if you intend to read both book. If you don’t plan to go back and pick up the first book this one can be read stand alone.

Georgia Bellair has finally regained custody of her four year old daughter, Abby, and is staying on her brother’s boat trying to have some quality time with her daughter. But life just continues to be unfair to Georgia and some sort of strange Chinese vampire cult begins to target Abby. Yun MacCready is a bounty hunter who happens to be staying on the boat in the next slip when he notices first Georgia and her daughter and then the fact that strange things are happening around them. Why would someone want to target this young mother and child? Why does Yun feel so drawn to try to help and protect this woman and child? Could this have something to do with the former gang leader Oscar Nesell that vowed to take revenge on Georgia’s sister, Cass?

I liked Georgia’s story and I loved the character of Yun. Yun comes from an unusual background himself and has a complicated relationship with his single mother that raised him. He is able to relate to the hardships Georgia is going through trying to take care of her daughter alone. He also recognizes, in both Georgia and himself, the tendency to avoid forming close relationships with others that would open them up to potential heartaches in the future. There is chemistry between Georgia and Yun but the timing isn’t good and their individual baggage may make it impossible for them to have a real relationship. The story is also full of suspense, keeping the reader poised and fearful that something terrible might happen to the little girl Abby. Ms. Hiestand does a great job twisting the reader around while they try to figure out what is going to happen next to the characters in the story.

The story does tie up a few more lose ends from the first book One Juror Down but it also leaves room for more bad guys to hassle the Bellair family in another book. I would like to read John Bellair’s story next!
