As the Brotherhood’s historian Bijou was a woman filled
with facts, knowledge and a ravenous appetite for more of
both. A lone Tarot reading spoke of a future filled with
negative situations that would test her resolve in ways she’d
yet to imagine. Finding herself mated to the Alpha leader of a
rival clan was only the beginning as Bijou and Magnus, the
alpha of the Legion clan find themselves mated and unsure of
the other’s true heart. One childish misdeed will affect both
their clans as two stubborn individuals try to come to terms
with a relationship capable of spelling death for the both of
them.
As befitting a story of werewolves in love, things don’t
come easy for Bijou and Magnus as fate throws these two
headstrong individuals into each other’s path. Bijou’s
Bonds is another fascinating entry into the Torrid
Tarot line of books that uses the Tarot deck as
inspiration. Anh Leod’s couple is connected strongly as the
pair learns how to come to terms with a path neither chose but
could do little to ignore. The constant tug-of-war between
Magnus and Bijou was dizzying, one moment full of heat the
next full of uncertainty. Interesting to put it mildly I found
this latest effort from Ms. Leod engaging and one that made me
hope to see more from these two clans who are bond by the
mating of their clansmen.

Bijou
knows that she is making a mistake by helping the man that has been
captured. This man doesn’t know the meaning of submission and
shows his defiance in his expressive eyes. Bijou knew that her
Tarot reading would wind up getting her into trouble and it doesn’t get
any bigger than Magnus Pompey. Everything is pointing to him
as her mate, but that just can’t be true.
Magnus Pompey finds himself in quite a fix and who should come to his
rescue but a comely female wolf named Bijou. He knows that she
is his mate and she’s fighting it tooth and nail. The sparks
that fly between them are too intense to ignore and Magnus has no care for
what destiny has planned. He will make Bijou his mate and she
will help him lead his clan.
Another werewolf tale makes top billing in my opinion.
Bijou is energetic and alluring, her bravery is to be envied.
Magnus is everything an alpha male should be, arrogant and sensual all
wrapped up in one package. You know from the moment they meet
the wanton eruption of desire won’t be stopped. They must
endure the dislike of both packs to be together and arouse in each other a
love that won’t be denied. I haven’t read many books by Anh
Leod, but I most certainly enjoyed this one and hopes that she has more
wolf stories in t he works.

Bijou is a historian for the Brotherhood clan of werewolves and
has little time for love. She wants to translate the ancient
archives.
Magnus Pompey is Alpha for the Legion clan of werewolves and also
the Mayor of a small town.
Bijou shouldn’t have answered the phone that night. During a
tarot reading by Nana, Bijou’s cell rings and Nana tells her not to
answer it. Her brother tells her they have captured the rival clan’s
alpha, Pompey, and that they are going to shame him.
Being the historian of her clan, Bijou races to the park so she
can set to record the capture of the alpha, but she hadn’t counted
on him being so handsome and naked. Bijou helps the youths by
weakening him so they can mark him. Unfortunately, Bijou is also
marked and when her alpha and the advisor arrive on the scene,
everyone is in for a shock. The advisor wants to know why she would
shame her true mate. Bijou fights the mating but in the end loses
the battle. She is taken to Magnus’s house and they are mated. The
mating is kept secret for his clan. Both are werewolves. Bijou can
shift whenever she wants and Magnus can only shift during the full
moon. Bijou wants to stay with her clan and finish translating the
scrolls, and find a way to dissolve the mating. Magnus really
doesn’t want to be mated to a female from the rival clan, but he
can’t resist her luscious body.
The Torrid Tarot series is a very
interesting and thrilling series. I really enjoyed the complex story
of Torrid Tarot: Bijou’s Bonds-Nine Of
Swords by Anh Leod. Bijou is
a strong heroine, but also capable of learning to love. Magnus is
devilishly handsome, strong and also learns to love. This story will
pull you in at the beginning and will have you thinking about Bijou
and Magnus long after you finish it. Ms. Leod cleverly brings the two clans together with
twists and turns throughout the book. The sex ain’t too shabby
either. | |

When Bijou’s Nana gives her a tarot
card reading, the nine of swords comes up, representing sadness, despair,
shame and disgrace. Nana is just about to reveal the rest of the card’s
meaning when a call comes. Some of the youths of the Brotherhood of the
Dog (her werewolf pack) cornered the Alpha of their longtime enemies, the
Legion (another werewolf pack). Now they plan to shame Magnus, and as the
pack historian, Bijou needs to watch.
Magnus Pompey can’t
believe he allowed these scruffy pups to trap him, damn those Brotherhood
mutts and their ability to change shapes at will. Tied to a cross, he’s
shocked and upset to see their historian, Bijou, appear. Then they make it
clear, he’s to be shamed. With the current unstable situation in his pack,
shaming could result in his death as he’ll surely be challenged. Fighting
to get away, Bijou uses her sensual skills to weaken him, allowing the
youths to mark him. But Magnus and Bijou are both in for a surprise,
because the marks show up on Bijou as well. It’s magic, mate magic. Bijou
has just participated in shaming her own true mate.
In a world where mates
are destined, not chosen, two enemies will have to come together if
they’re going to survive. But can they look past their own desires to
unite?
Poor Bijou. A scholar
at heart, all she wants is to study her clan’s ancient scrolls, discover
if the myths of their long lost magic are true, and see if they can
re-attain that power. Physically she has a hard time resisting Magnus, but
mentally, she’s willing to do just about anything, including endangering
their health to continue researching in the Brotherhood’s secret vault.
Magnus isn’t any more thrilled than Bijou about the match. Sure she’s sexy
and strong, but frankly he’s got enough worries on his plate right now
without adding a disgruntled mate to the menu. Magnus has only led his
pack for a year, since his father’s “accidental” death, and he’s well
aware that there are those just waiting for him to display weakness. The
combination of the shaming and a Brotherhood mate will thrill them.
Stubborn, smart, and determined to get their way, the pair come to an
agreement, they’ll separate for six months, during which time Bijou will
study and Magnus will try to solidify his leadership position. It sounds
like a reasonable agreement, but in making it, Bijou and Magnus may have
just signed their death warrants.
Nana is a clan elder,
mysterious and wise, she could be a dangerous woman to cross. Barkley,
Nana’s son, is also adviser to King, their Alpha. King is wise and strong,
like all Alphas should be, but will he make the right decisions when it
comes to Bijou and Magnus? Duke is Bijou’s younger brother, he’s also one
of the youths who captured Magnus. Asta is one of Bijou’s older brothers,
will he stand with his sister if a stand must be made? Magnus’s uncle
Julian was once Alpha of their clan and he’d like nothing better than for
his son, Brutus, to hold the position. But would Julian kill for his son,
then again, who says Brutus won’t fight for it himself?
There’s drama aplenty
in this fabulous story with its wonderful blend of action, deception,
danger and romance. Though connected to LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN (July 2007),
BIJOU’S BONDS is a completely standalone read. If you love werewolves,
you’ll enjoy this book and all of the well-developed characters who
inhabit its entertaining plotline. Get your copy of BIJOU’S BONDS

From the first moment shape-shifter Bijou saw Magnus Pompey
she knew he was going to be big trouble. Even though he was
tied to a cross at the time, she could see the alpha male was
far from helpless. She should have known her unnerving tarot
reading earlier in the evening had pointed correctly to the
disaster about to overtake her life but Pompey just couldn't
be the true mate of her scholarly heart. Granted, he was the
hottest werewolf she'd ever seen, but she had a purpose within
her Brotherhood clan and none with Pompey or his rival
clan.
Could incendiary sex make up for the death of her dreams or
would it be better to escape her mate? She needed a solution
to her magical dilemma. Maybe ancient scrolls would lead her
to the truth. |
RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:
BIJOU’S BONDS is a tale of finding true
love, regardless of the form it takes. Bijou realizes the instant
she sees Magnus that her life is about to change, something
portended by the unsettling tarot card reading she’s been given. A
scholar, this hotter-than-hot male brings her passions to the
surface while her logic questions whether or not getting involved
with Magnus is a wise choice.
Anh Leod has written a sexy tale of love, lust and passion. There
were times when I forgot the characters were shape-shifters who
moved between werewolf and human form. The romantic aspects of this
well-written story filled my mind so completely it didn’t matter to
me what the pair was, just that they find happiness.
I very much enjoyed reading BIJOU’S
BONDS. It was a fast, engaging read and I can easily
recommend it.

Pages Werewolf Rating: 4 Cups
One night during a less than wonderful tarot
reading, Bijou, the historian of the Brotherhood of the Dog clan,
helps in shaming the alpha of the rival Legion clan and local mayor
Magnus Pompey. Unfortunately the alpha is discovered to be her mate,
and Bijou is expected to bond with him.
Magnus has is own problems, and being shamed is just the
beginning. There is turmoil in his pack and finding his mate is one
additional complication he does not need. Even if the thought of
mating with Bijou suits him perfectly.
Will the two be able to change their plans for the future and
accept one another or will the conflicting loyalties work against
them? Even more frightening, outside influences are working against
them to control the werewolves.
I was intrigued by Bijou’s Bonds as soon as I read the first line
of the synopsis: Bijou would see a man’s silhouetted figure writhing
on a distant cross for years to come. Call me shallow, but this is
hot and the story does not disappoint. I enjoy how the couple uses
an understanding of history and politics to move forward. This was
woven into the story in a most clever way and is a great part of the
book. Again the sex is fantastic and matches the character's
behavior perfectly. As Bijou and Magnus work towards an
understanding more of the story evolves but the basic sexuality is
always at the forefront and keeps the book fast paced and exciting.
The background characters are good, and, as this is Ms. Leod’s
second in the Torrid Tarot line, I look forward to reading more from
her in the series.

Torrid Tarot - Bijou’s
Bonds
Bijou, born a shapeshifter of the
Brotherhood of the Dog clan, has pursued a scholarly career. Her only
interests in life are the translations of the ancient scrolls of her
clan.
Magnus Pompey assumed alpha position after the death of his
father, not only is he alpha of the Legion clan he is also the mayor of
Cherry Blossom.
Torrid Tarot - Bijou’s Bonds is a magical
story with pertinent problems to overcome. Number one would be the fact
that Bijou shames the alpha, two would be his righteous anger, and
three, the automatic enmity of the two rival clans.
Anh
Leod takes us on a journey of understanding in Torrid Tarot -
Bijou’s Bonds. When these two meet, mating magic happens and though
these two have nothing obvious in common other than a physical
attraction, they know to break the bond both would die. Magic plays a
heavy role in this paranormal snack, Bijou’s search for it in the
scrolls, and Pompey’s acceptance of it as normal. This can be read as a
stand alone, but I will be reading Lucky Number Seven soon, which
is the first book in this series. Thank you Ms. Leod for a
delightful bite into the shifter world with Torrid Tarot - Bijou’s
Bonds.

Bijou's Bonds by Ahn Leod is the sequel to her
Naughty Nuptials - Lucky Number Seven which was also
distributed by Ellora's Cave Romantica Publishing. Anh Leod wrote a
very tantalizing tale that captured my attention right from the
beginning! Bijou's Bonds is a great mix of paranormal and
erotic romance.
Bijou, the historian of the Brotherhood of the Dog, was in the middle
of a Tarot reading when she received news that a rival clan's Alpha was
caught and in the process of being shamed.
Unfortunately, Bijou decides to join in the shaming of Magnus Pompey, and
from that point on her life is ever changed. Much to her
dismay and surprise, an elder clansman told Bijou that Pompey is her mate
and must return to his clan to perform the mating ceremony with him.
While Bijou accepts her faith, she's not going to go without a
fight. She is a strong heroine who knows what she wants and what she
doesn't. While she doesn't seem to mind having sex with Pompey, the
idea of being bonded with him for life is a whole lot for her to accept;
especially since her job as the historian for her clan means everything to
her.
Pompey is a very sexy hero who is totally attracted to Bijou and
only wants to see her happy. He has his own problems which is going
to end up playing a huge role in the last half of this book. Pompey
and Bijou heat up the pages of this book and Leod's gift for writing
very erotic sex scenes shines when these two are together.
Even though Bijou's Bonds is the second book
in a series, it completely stands alone. I very much enjoyed
this book and I look forward to future releases by Ahn Leod.
