Aphrodite is such a mischievous Goddess, but it makes for good reading! Set in London, 1844 when society was quite reserved sexually, Aphrodite’s spell to liven things up sexually is cast on the wearer of the necklace Aphrodite leaves at the home of young, innocent Emily Rogers. Wearing the necklace, subject to its spell, Emily forsakes the stodgy eligible bachelors at the ball and finds her sexual awakening with the family butler, William Coxe. Carried by the spell, Emily and William have a series of encounters, each a bit more daring than the other, which are vividly described and allow the reader to get lost in the story. But is their attraction for each other more than just a spell? Can love between a society girl and butler survive? As her spell’s effects recede, the story becomes sweet and the lovers sympathetic. Even Aphrodite is touched by the purity of their love and gives them a true gift.

This story is sexually charged right from the start and but the raw emotions become sweet as the story proceeds. The reader is drawn in and swept away with this story. It is well written and flows very nicely.

Aphrodite enhanced a necklace with magic a love potion of sorts. As she attended a costume ball at the request of Emerald she planed to make sure the necklace got into the right hands, the hands of Emily Rogers. Her father was having this ball in her honour in order to find her an eligible match. With his financial worries it would be necessary to find someone who was wealthy and would not be put off with the nonexistent dowry. What Emily wants is love and with the help of the necklace she might just get it even though she had no idea magic was afoot.

A crazy magical tale with lots of sex and love. Could it be true tha t magic could take care of all the pesky things in life like money and titles and class restrictions. Of course love will conquer everything but is the magic necessary or only a start. A sweet story of forbidden love that works out in the end, it also has a touch of forbidden sex as well. A fun read.

Aphrodite's Necklace

When Hephaestus exiled Aphrodite to London , he deliberately chose one of this world’s most sexually-repressed times and societies. How was he to know how much mischief his willful wife would cause?

Tired of hertrained courtesans and lovers-for-hire, Aphrodite decides to make a spell that will ensnare the love and desire of innocents. With this, she would rebuild London society into a place more suited to her nature. When a worshiper brings her a diamond necklace as an enticement to attend a ball, she finds the very tool she needs in order to begin her plan.

Emily’s family stand on the brink of ruin, and her marriage must be to someone with wealth and means in order to save them. William is a butler in her household. It is forbidden for them to socialize, let alone love and wed. When Aphrodite attends the ball at Emily ’s house, the young woman finds the necklace the goddess leaves behind, and the two become entangled with each other.

Returning the necklace, however, does not solve their problems. How can a footman and a young lady love? How can they continue to follow their desire when it could mean ruin for them both?

The story follows the twists and turns of their decisions as they try to abide by society’s rules, and honor a love that Aphrodite’s spell has ignited. I enjoyed the way Emily comes to understand the joy of loving, as well as they way she faces her future and tries to come up with a solution that sees William in it, as more than a butler.

I also enjoyed seeing William slide from the role of butler to lover and back again, as he tries to live within a society that will reject a butler’s love for a young lady.

All in all, an interesting tale with an ending bound to satisfy.

Aphrodite's Necklace by Heather Hiestand

Aphrodite’s Necklace

Aphrodite’s Necklace is part of the Torrid Tarot series. The story is based on the Queen of Pentacles Tarot card. The card is symbolic of love of sensual pleasures for pleasure’s sake alone.

As punishment for a misdeed, Aphrodite has been banished to London. The year is 1844 and she is bored silly by nearly everything. An idea comes to her that will bring some excitement into the otherwise dull time. She places a spell on a necklace. Then she goes to a ball in search of one worthy enough to enjoy the benefits of the spell she has cast. Emily Rogers finds the enchanted necklace and Aphrodite’s magic is set in motion. Emily and her butler, Will, are drawn together, unable to resist the charms of Aphrodite’s necklace. The couple doesn’t know that it is the necklace that has released their passions so they search for the rightful owner in order to return it.

This story is interesting and kept my attention throughout. The way Emily and Will firs t come together, with him learning to undo her corsets and comparing her to a gift, is touching and tender. The sex scenes are imaginative and well written. There is a dream sequence that, while being somewhat farfetched, moves the story forward. The enchanted necklace, its effect on the wearer and the way the couple reacts without the enchantment is fairly predictable but Anh Leod has written the story so well it feels fresh and new. Aphrodite’s Necklace is a pleasure to read.
